 | CHARAKTERYSTYKA LASÓW, TYPY LASÓW Według danych statystycznych z Łotewskiego Narodowego Spisu Lasów (NFI), lasy i zalesione tereny rolne, spełniające kryteria lasu, zajmują 3,22 mln ha, co stanowi 49,9% powierzchni Łotwy. |
 | TYPOWA I WYJĄTKOWA FAUNA I FLORA W LESIE Łotwa położona jest na styku borealnych lasów iglastych i lasów liściastych, dlatego też gatunki charakterystyczne dla obu tych biomów można także znaleźć w lasach Łotwy. |
 | FORMY OCHRONY PRZYRODY Aby zapewnić ochronę specjalnym gatunkom oraz siedliskom poza obszarami znajdującymi się pod ochroną, tworzy się mikrorezerwaty. Są to zazwyczaj obiekty mniejsze (0,1–20 ha, dla ptaków do 200 ha), a procedura ich tworzenia jest znacznie krótsza i mniej skomplikowana. |
 | ORGANIZACJA LEŚNICTWA Na Łotwie połowa lasów jest własnością państwa, reszta – własnością przedsiębiorstw i właścicieli prywatnych (48%) oraz samorządów (2%), (według danych statystycznych Łotewskich Lasów Państwowych z 2010 r.). |
