The fourth edition of the YPEF contest announced!

ZdjęcieOn 8th of November took place the meeting of the YPEF International Commission in HNE Eberswalde (University of Sustainable Development), Germany. The fourth edition of the YPEF contest has been announced!  

The following resolution was passed by the YPEF IC members:

“The YPEF International Commission announces the fourth edition of the Young People in European Forests contest. National stages of the contest will be held between 1st of February and 30th of June 2014. The European Stage will take place in Eberswalde,  Germany in the days: 29th September – 3rd October 2014.“

Soon we will publish the new rules of the contest 2013/2014. You can expect some significant changes, especially concerning the Final Stage.

Until beginning of January we will also publish the educational materials for the fourth edition of the contest.

Recognition for YPEF photo contests!

European Forest Institute appreciates the works submitted for the YPEF photo contests. Six photos were selected to help to illustrate the issues of the Pan-European conference "The criteria and indicators for sustainable forest management in Europe" which was held on the 8th and 9th of October in Vienna. Co-organizers of the conference were: UNECE /FAOFORESTEUROPE Liaison Unit Madrid, Finnish Research Institute(METL) and the German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and  Consumer Protection (BMELV). Photos took by Honorata Gręda, Martyna Jurczak, Michalina Baran, Anna Żyła, Adam Bernacki and Adam Gąsior were changed to postcards to illustrate the most important criteria which were the subject of the conference.

On the cards’ reverses you can find the authors' names, titles of the photos and YPEF logo . Click on each image to see a card. Congratulations to the authors of photographs!

The minicontest "AUTUMN FOREST" announced!

The third photocontest in this year has started. The contest will last until 20th of December. Until that date we are awaiting your photos. Please send the photos to: Please also get acquainted with the contest rules on

The points scored in the contest will be summed up with the points scored in other YPEF photo contests organized in 2013: ”Forest in Winter” and “Spring in the Forest”. The total number of points scored in all these contests will allow to select the Forest Photographer of the Year.


 III edition of YPEF international contest 

We know the results of the YPEF III edition!


On 25-26. September 2013 took place in the National Park Peneda-Gerês in Portugal  the European final of  the YPEF III contest. The winners are: Katica Kozma, Lehel Csobaji,  Gergely Ujvári and teacher Dávid Vetlényi from Hungary. Second place went to:  Anastasia  Antoniadou, Chara Georgoglou, Paraskevi Theocharopoulou and teacher Maria Cheimonopoulou from Greece. Third place was taken by: Kasia Franiczek, Kamil Przybyła,  Filip Taratuta and teacher Janusz Pociecha from Poland.
