Report about the National Stage Contest YPEF in Austria!
The National Stage Contest took place on 24th of April 2012 at the Technical Forestry High School Bruck / Mur (Styria), Dr. Theodor Körnerstrasse 44, 8600 Bruck / Mur.
In Austria the Contest was organized by the Union of Austrian Foresters and supported by the Ministry of Life.
The Contest language was Englisch. The Contest had two parts: 1st category: list of questions 2nd category: short Power point presentation about forest and environment
Participants are the students from 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes - Forestry High School. (2a, 2b, 3a, 3b, 4a and 4b)
13 students came to the final round.
The National Commission decided:
Winner are:
1. Mr. Johannes Rieder (4b), 2. Mrs. Alexandra Russ (3a), 3. Mr. Dietmar Wöls (4b)
The 3 winners will go to Estonia to the International Contest, together with Mrs. Prof. Bettina Gailberger (Member of National Commission and Professor at Technical Forestry High School Bruck an der Mur), Mr. Thomas Baschny (President of National Commission) and Mr. Wolfgang Schweighofer (Vice-president of National Commission).

National Stage Contest YPEF in Austria – 24th of April 2012!
The National Stage Contest will take place on 24th of April 2012 (9.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m.) at the Technical Forestry High School Bruck / Mur (Styria), Dr. Theodor Körnerstrasse 44, 8600 Bruck / Mur.
In Austria the Contest is organized by the Union of Austrian Foresters The Contest language is Englisch.
The Contest has two parts: 1st part: Test (answering a list of preapared questions about European forests) 2nd part: short PP-presentation of „The Charm of the Austian Forest`s”
Participants are students from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes (apr. 170 students) - Forestry High School. (2a and 2b, 3a and 3b, 4a and 4b)
The best two students will go in outumn, accompanied by members of the National Commission (Prof. Gailberger, Ing. Schweighofer and Ing. Baschny) to the International Contest in Sagady (Estonia).

Mr. Janez Potočnik - European Commissioner for Environment took over patronage for the second edition of YPEF contest!!
On the 21st of December Dr. Janez Potocnik - European Commissioner for Environment sent a letter to the YPEF International Contest Commission informing that he takes over patronage for the second edition of YPEF contest.
“… I fully endorse your approach aiming at both integration and education. It is important to keep the attention high on forest protection, especially in the interest of the youngest generations. I welcome this initiative and I am happy to provide my patronage for this event. …”

During the meeting of the YPEF International Contest Commission in Warsaw on 7th of December 2011, the second edition of the YPEF International Contest about forests and forestry in Europe has been announced. Organizations from eleven countries: Austria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Slovenia have already declared participation in the contest.
National stage contests will take place between 1st of February and 31st of May. Winning teams from European countries will participate in the European Final Stage contest in Sagadi, Estonia on 26th – 27th of September 2012. We invite youths from other European countries to participation in the YPEF 2011/2012 International Contest!

The National Stage Contest took place on 4th of July 2011 (0.00 a.m. – 02.00 p.m.) at the Technical Forestry High School Bruck an der Mur (Styria), Dr. Theodor Körnerstrasse 44, 8600 Bruck / Mur. In Austria the Contest was organized by the Union of Austrian Foresters. The Contest language was English. The Contest had two parts: 1st category: list of questions 2nd category: presentation of Austrian´s forest (10 minutes)
Participants are the students from 4th classes - Forestry High School. (4a and 4b) 5 teams (two students per team) came to the final round.
The National Commission decided: Winner are: 1. Mr. Jürgen Gasser (4a), 2. Mr. Michael Pusterhofer (4b), 3. Mrs. Johanna Köttstorfer (4a) 4. Mrs. Carina Steinkogler (4a) and 5. Mr. Benno Czernin-Kinsky (4b)
The 3 winners will go to Poland to the International Contest + 1 substitute (Number 4 or 5), together with Mrs. Prof. Bettina Gailberger (Member of National Commission and Professor at Technical Forestry High School Bruck an der Mur) and Mr. Wolfgang Schweighofer (Vice-president of National Commission).
